The next incarnation of the IPOD Nano has been released. The big new feature of this one seems to be the video camera. From what I’ve read and seen, there is still no comparison to a real camera or some camera phones. You can’t take pictures with it, only video. Other additions include a small built in speaker, which is ideal for listening to voice recordings. This is a good thing because the new IPOD also features a built in microphone for voice messages and such.
The Nano also finally has included a FM radio, because frankly every other MP3 player does already. So Apple has been a little behind there. My sister’s Sandisk player has a radio, and that was from a few years ago.
The screen has increased in size again, which means the click wheel has decreased in size again. But mostly they kept the same form as the 4th generation Nano. I personally like the long rectangular design better, which I assume most people did. Since the 3rd generation Nano was dumped on for having new square design.
Another random feature thrown into the new IPOD is a pedometer, so you can track the
number of step you have taken. I’ve heard mixed reviews on its accuracy.
The capacities of the new Nanos are capped at 16GB, which seems odd considering the new video and voice capabilities. You would think they would offer more space. Maybe that will be the next version.
