My First Impressions of the Garmin Nuvi 1350T, Part 2
Yesterday, I reminisced about my first experiences with the Gamin Nuvi 1350T. Today I wish to continue my thoughts on the subject. One of my gripes is the lack of an AC outlet plug charger. Yes, I know I can buy one from Garmin. It is a part of the accessories racket run by everything from ipods to video game systems. And their ultimate goal is to make money, so it is not that I don’t understand. And if they did include one already, it would be reflected by the GPS unit costing more. But they probably also assume that you will be driving while you use it and will mainly be using the included car charger. The battery only last about four hours before it needs to be recharged.
Of the other extras of this unit, you can use it as a picture viewer. It can store and display pictures in the JPEG format. The unit comes preloaded with photos of the various Garmin headquarters. This unit accepts MicroSD cards can be used for extra maps and I assume photos.
Of the other neat features while driving, the GPS will show you how fast you are going and the posted speed limit. The numbers turn red as you go over the speed limit, with a good level of accuracy as well.
To legally mount your GPS in the windshield it must go in the low point of either the bottom right corner or the bottom left corner, no center mounting. From what I’ve read that went into effect January of last year and was a step up from windshield mounting not being allowed at all.
