Have Compact Disc reached obscurity yet?

Have CD’s gone into obscurity yet? You always hear about how CD sales are way down in stores, because all of the sales have moved to digital music vendors. So I was thinking about how much longer do music CD’s have before they become the next cassette tape or record. Though records still maintain a vinyl following. And if the CD is to be replaced, what will it be replaced with? Will it all just be digital online. Will they try to sell albums on some copy protected flash drive?

I still like to have something tangible myself. If your computer goes down and your hard drive gets wiped out, there went all your music. The same event can happen with the iPod or whatever MP3 player you use. With a CD you still have the music to reload onto your device.

Though I understand why digital music is so popular. Why pay $15 for a new CD when there are only one or two good songs on there. When you could just buy those few songs you want for a buck a piece on Itunes, Amazon, or even the Wal-mart website. And I am sure it greatly reduces all the clutter of having to store all of your CDs in racks and trays.

We will all just have to wait and see what comes of this technology.

It's not the will to win, but the will to prepare to win that makes the difference.
